~MobILe dEVice~

I am sure that all of you have heard about or familiar with notebook, laptop and tablet.
Actually all of these are known as mobile computer. Mobile computer is a personal computer you can carry from place to place. Similarly, a mobile device is a computing device small enough to hold in your hand.

A notebook computer is a battery- or AC-powered personal computer generally smaller than a
briefcase that can easily be transported and conveniently used in temporary spaces such as on airplanes, in libraries, temporary offices, and at meetings.
A notebook computer, sometimes called a laptop computer , typically weighs less than 5 pounds and is 3 inches or less in thickness.

Among the best-known makers of notebook and laptop computers are IBM, Apple, Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, and Hewlett-Packard.Notebook computers generally cost more than desktop computers with the same capabilities because they are more difficult to design and manufacture. A notebook can effectively be turned into a desktop computer with a docking station , a hardware frame that supplies connections for peripheral input/output devices such as a printer or larger monitor. The less capable port replicator allows you to connect a notebook to a number of peripherals through a single plug.

NOTEBOOK

laptop is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use.  A laptop has most of the same components as a desktop computer, including a display, a keyboard , a pointing device such as a touch pad  (also known as a trackpad) and/or a pointing stick , and speakers into a single unit. A laptop is powered by mains electricity  via an AC adapter , and can be used away from an outlet using a rechargeable battery

The basic components of laptops function similarly to their desktop counterparts, but are miniaturized, adapted to mobile use. The design bounds on power, size, and cooling of laptops limit the maximum performance of laptop parts compared to that of desktop components.

LAPTOP

Tablet computers have become very popular over the last few years. As a result there are now a lot of manufacturers making them. This means that you have to know what to look for when you are buying a tablet. In order to do this you have to know which features are the most important.
The most important feature of a tablet computer is the touch screen. This is how you will use the tablet for the most part so you want to make sure that you get one that has a really good touch screen. The best of them use what is known as capacitive technology which allows you to use the screen with very little pressure from your finger. It can’t be stressed enough how important a good touch screen is, you will regret it if you get a cheap one that is not up to par.

TABLET PC

These 3 devices are classified as mobile device or mobile computer...with this innovative devices give a lot of

advantages to us...

~Output devices~

Output devices???

An output device is any hardware component that conveys information to one or more people.Three commonly used output devices are a printer, a monitor and speakers. Actually we already familiar with the devices. Only the term "output devices" that we rarely heard.

speaker

monitor

printer

In this entry I will explain about these 3 types of output devices.

Speakers are one of the most common output devices used with computer systems. Some speakers are designed to work specifically with computers, while others can be hooked up to any type of sound system. Regardless of their design, the purpose of speakers is to produce audio output that can be heard by the listener.
Speakers are transducers that convert electromagnetic waves into sound waves. The speakers receive audio input from a device such as a computer or an audio receiver. This input may be either in analog or digital form. Analog speakers simply amplify the analog electromagnetic waves into sound waves. Since sound waves are produced in analog form, digital speakers must first convert the digital input to an analog signal, then generate the sound waves.

The Monitor

It is the most commonly used output device. The monitor is a soft copy (means we can modify contents of data and data is temporarily on the screen) output device. A monitor looks like a television and it displays alphanumeric and graphic output. A monitor is also called Visual display unit (VDU) or Cathode Ray Tube (CRT). The special program called Screen Dump Saves contents of the monitor screen.

Types of Monitor:
According to resolution, a monitor is of two types:
· High Resolution (Good quality of text and graphics on the screen)
· Low Resolution (Low quality of text and graphics)
Sizes of Monitor
According to screen size, a monitor is available in different sizes:
· 3 to 30 inch screens are available in the market.
· 15 and 17-inch screen are common now a day.

According to volume, a monitor is of two types:
· CRT (Cathode ray tube):
Monitors of this type screen are used commonly in homes, colleges and offices. These monitors are big and require big area to place, power and have weight more than 10 pounds. We cannot move these monitors easily.

· Flat - panel tube:
These monitors are also available nowadays in markets. These monitors are normally used in Laptop computers and we can also use these monitors in desktop computers. There are several types of flat-panel monitors, but the most common is the liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor.

According to display, a monitor is of two types:

· Monochrome
These monitors display images only in single colour. This colour can be white, green, blue, red or amber. This monitor can display shades of one colour and the computer industry uses the term gray scales to refer to the number of shades of a colour that can be shown on a monochrome monitor’s screen.

· Colour
This monitor shows graphics with full colours. These monitors produce images in three mixed colours, which are red, green and blue that is why these are also called RGB monitors. A typical monitor can display 256 to 65536 colours.

Touch Screen Monitor:
Touch Screen monitors allow the user to point directly at the computer display, usually to select from a menu of choices on the screen. Most touch-screen computers use sensors in, or near, the computer’s screen that can detect the touch of a finger. Touch screens are appropriate in environments where dirt or weather would render keyboards and pointing devices useless and where a simple interface is important.

Printers

Printers are the most commonly used output devices that can be found in almost all computer centres. Printers are used to get prints of important documents on a paper. The output, which is generated by a printer, is called hard copy of the data. Printer is also called a hard copy output device.

Categories of printers:
Broadly there are two categories of printers:
· Impact printers
This printer uses the familiar typewriter approach of hitting a character against paper and inked ribbon.

· Non-impact printers
These printers do not hit or impact a ribbon to print. They use thermal electrostatic, chemical, and inkjet technologies. These printers move a print head across the page.

Classification of printers:Printers are classified as:
· Character printers
· Line printers
· Page printers

So, this all for this entry....I hope that with some information that I share will help you understand more about output devices..

DISK CLEANUP???

During my previous class, I already learned about utility programs, also called utility, is a type of system software that allows a user to perform maintenance-type tasks, usually related to managing a computer, its devices,or its programs.

Maintenance???

I never ever do that to my lappy because I never heard about it before this until I learned it from my class. My lecturer advices us to that so that it can maintain our PC at good conditions and also can help increase speed of system in computer.

Disk cleanup actually a utility searches and removes unnecessary files. Unnecessary files may include downloaded program files, temporary Internet files, deleted files and unused program files.

So, for this entry, I will share about steps to do disk cleanup to our computer. ;)

ARE YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT INTERNET AND COMPUTER ADDICTION?? OR DO YOU ARE ONE OF THEM???

What is actually internet and computer addiction?

This occurs when someone becomes obsessed with using internet or computer.

Internet Addiction, otherwise known as computer addiction, online addiction, or internet addiction disorder (IAD), covers a variety of impulse-control problems, including:
  • Cybersex Addiction – compulsive use of Internet pornography, adult chat rooms, or adult fantasy role-play sites impacting negatively on real-life intimate relationships.
  • Cyber-Relationship Addiction – addiction to social networking, chat rooms, and messaging to the point where virtual, online friends become more important than real-life relationships with family and friends.
  • Net Compulsions such as compulsive online gaming, gambling, stock trading, or compulsive use of online auction sites such as eBay, often resulting in financial and job-related problems.
  • Information Overload compulsive web surfing or database searching, leading to lower work productivity and less social interaction with family and friends.
  • Computer Addiction – obsessive playing of off-line computer games, such as Solitaire or Minesweeper, or obsessive computer programming.
The most common of these Internet addictions are cybersex, online gambling, and cyber-relationship addiction.

How do people become addicted to the internet?

Do not know how to buy a good laptop? Need some advice to choose a quality laptop??

Don't worry I will share some tips on how to choose a very quality laptop in this entry

Picking a laptop computer will probably be more involved than reviewing five simple steps, but you have to start somewhere! Each of these steps will hopefully guide other decisions and make the process less frustrating, while also leading to the selection of the best laptop possible.

  • Ergonomics:

If you are going to be spending any significant amount of time working on this laptop computer, you´re going to want to be comfortable. A well-designed interface is essential for comfort, as well as good health. Carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis may be some of the more common conditions associated with extended computer usage, and selecting the most comfortable laptop.
  • Power Management:

If you are going to use a laptop as it was intended, away from your desk, you´re going to want it to provide as much battery life as possible. The first step is to shop around for a unit that offers the best battery life possible, and then seek out independent reviews to verify this performance. A good laptop should be able to run for four hours or more on a full charge, and as the technology advances, finding units that can double this time isn´t unrealistic.
  • Future Proof:

Basically, purchase as much laptop as you can afford, so that a year or two down the road you may be less likely to need a replacement.
Processors in a laptop are generally not upgradeable, or at least quite difficult to upgrade, so picking something with marginally adequate speed for today´s needs will no doubt be obsolete sooner than you might expect. Desktop computers generally offer the convenience of having their processors (and other components) upgraded, making it less of an issue, but it is important to plan ahead with laptops, or to plan on buying another one in a few years
    .
  • Size / Weight:

All laptop computers are not created equal, and the size and weight of the various models reflect that. Some may weigh more than others due to the quantity of components included, but it may also be due to the quality of the components. Larger displays, multiple hard drives, and other integrated components will all contribute to the weight of a laptop. The largest single source of weight in a laptop may be the battery, and systems with two batteries as described above, should be expected to be much heavier.
  • Connectivity:

Being able to connect to common devices is just as important on laptops as it is on desktops, but being able to add these connections down the road is not as easy on a laptop. Upgrades aren´t as easy on laptops due to the basic design, so make sure what you need is included up front.
may help avoid them all together.
I hope that several tips that provided will help you on how to buy a good laptop for yourself. =)

"The 4.8in device is one of the most highly anticipated Android devices of 2012. We go through the top five features of the Galaxy S3 and also point out its niggles."
Samsung has heavily promoted the gesture set on the S3, so the firm would have been left red-faced if they didn't perform.
Out of the numerous features, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Palm Sweep and Turnover are our favourites and will be the most useful to business users. Although they are not perfect, we have used them regularly.
Smart Stay is a feature which uses the 1.9-megapixel front facing camera to track your eyes. When the phone detects you have looked away from the device, it will dim the display and switch off (depending on length of screen time out), but as long as you maintain eye contact, it will continue at full brightness.
This is particularly useful if you put the device down for a couple of seconds. The display may dim, but once you pick it up it will brighten up. This is handy as it means the device will not dim when you are reading web pages, but we did find it to be inconsistent in low light.
Direct call is simpler, but just as effective. When you are viewing or writing a text message, browsing a contact or checking a missed call, the phone will call the person if you raise the device to your ear. The system isn’t perfect and we found it to be inconsistent when you are typing message. However, when we were viewing a message, it worked everytime and saved a couple of clicks.
Palm Sweep helps to simplify the process of taking screen shots. These have always been fiddly on Android phones – requiring users to simultaneously hold volume and lock buttons down.
To take a screen grab on the S3 you use the edge of your hand and swipe from the right hand edge to left edge (more examples of these later on). This is quick and particularly useful when using apps such as Docs to Go as you can take screen grabs of important pictures or documents.
It is also possible to capture screen grabs of internet web pages too, but these can be tricky as it is easy to scroll down by accident. We also found you have to be viewing the webpage in “desktop mode” and it is only possible to take screen grabs in portrait mode.
Turnover is another simple idea which will be useful for business user who forget to turn their devices to silent when entering meetings. If the phone rings, you turn it over to mute it instantly and avoid disruption.
With the smart features contain in S3 such as smart stay, direct call, smart alert, social tag and S   voice, this really make it so smart and easier for me to use it.

Isn't that cool to have S3 ;) ...I hope this entry can helping u to know about S3...enjoyy >_<
